West Bromwich Albion FC is seeking an experienced practitioner to lead, manage and continue developing the Sport Science & Medicine Department for our Category 1 Academy.
The successful applicant will require excellent communication, organisation and interpersonal skills. Previous experience in the field of elite sporting development and performance is essential. Applicants will be expected to have the knowledge and understanding of how to deliver multidisciplinary player support systems that aim to maximise athletic potential on an individualised basis.
Please note the vacancy is specific to qualified chartered physiotherapists only. As well as managing and supporting Sport Science & Medicine staff there will be the requirement to cover matches, training and tours (national and international) and manage clinical caseloads.
Applicants must have a passion for athletic development within a youth based setting.

The key responsibilities are to:
To manage the Academy Sport Science & Medicine Department to ensure the Department is efficient and effective across all phases.
To ensure the Academy Performance Plan underpins the work of the Sport Science & Medicine Department.
To provide effective communication strategies to inform relevant staff of the progress of players under the care of the Science & Medicine Department, in particular the Academy Manager, Head of Science and Medicine and the relevant Coaching Staff.
To ensure all monitoring data such as GPS and Heart Rate is assessed and is feedback to all relevant departments.
To ensure all Sports Science testing is carried out at relevant times and the data produced is relayed back to all departments ensuring this data is used to establish individual programmes.
To provide the appropriate support to ensure the Sports Science and Medical Department contribute the necessary information to enable suitable targets are set and reviewed in line with the relevant time scales of the Players Performance Clock.
To ensure all Academy players receive appropriate assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries.
To ensure all staff gain the relevant qualifications, and these are maintained and up dated in line with the requirements of their role, and those of their Professional bodies such as the FA, Premier League and the Health Professions Council.
To continue to progress and improve athletic development across the Academy
To continue to progress and improve injury prevention strategies across the Academy
To ensuring that appropriate medical cover and equipment is provided at all relevant training sessions, tournaments and games.
To attend relevant safeguarding presentations and ensure you are practicing within the guidelines set by the Safeguarding Officer. To communicate with the Academy Manager and Safeguarding officer if there are any safeguarding queries or issues.
To ensure all medical records are maintained and up dated accordingly and also in line with the relevant bodies rules and regulations. To ensure that medical records include the relevant information to allow completion of injury audits across all age groups.
To ensure all relevant medical and sports science data is processed into the Performance Management Application (PMA).
HCPC and CSP registered
A minimum of 5 years’ experience within elite sport
Experience of managing/leading a team of medical and allied health professionals
Able to be flexible with their working week
Driving license and car
First Aid in Sport Certification
Relevant Masters Level Qualification
Strength & Conditioning qualification or equivalent (i.e. NASC/UKSCA/NASM)
Previous experience of EPPP and PMA
In date FA Advanced Resuscitation & Emergency Aid Course (AREA) or equivalent
